Columbia Enterprises, Inc. is a well-respected Construction Management/General Contracting firm located in the Greater Washington Metropolitan Area. Our clients include the Federal Government, major Health Care providers, and local Schools and Universities.  Columbia is seeking a highly-motivated individual to fill the position of Assistant Project Manager. The responsibilities will include the management, supervision, coordination, and the successful completion of construction projects to meet time and cost objectives with respect to contracting, scheduling, estimating, bidding, and contract administration. The individual will supervise and manage subordinates to assist with the development of overall construction project plans including issue resolution with subcontractors and suppliers, preparation of contract schedule of values, and cost breakdowns. Additionally, the individual will supervise and manage subordinates in the preparation, expediting, and monitoring of logs for tracking drawings, contract documents, submittals, and requests for information along with change orders and material delivery logs.
The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:
  • 3-5+ years of Project Management experience
  • BS Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related field (graduate degree preferred)
  • Project Management Certification (preferred)
  • Experience with government contracts, health care, and tenant fit-out
  • Subcontract administration
  • Formulate Scopes of Work
  • Set up and monitor direct labor hours and cost
  • Assist Project Superintendent to develop two-week look-ahead
  • Document Control including submittal logs, RFI’s
  • Schedule and track materials, deliveries and installation
  • Change management including document distribution, subcontractor quotations, PCO’s, Change Orders
  • Assist Project Manager in project financial reporting including job costing and monthly project billings
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel), scheduling and Project Management Information System programs (Sage/Timberline; P6; Microsoft Project)
